Co-operations

Why speech therapy in the workplace?

As a rule, most employees are taken to the workshop by minibus at 7.30 in the morning. In the afternoon at 3.30 p.m. they are taken by bus again and sometimes don't get home until around 4.30 p.m.. It is easy to conclude that most of the employees' daily energy levels are pretty much exhausted by then. Going to a therapy session at the practice afterwards would achieve little lasting success.

Furthermore, by providing support in the workplace, we have a short line of communication with the group leader. We can follow direct feedback and developments and integrate them into the therapy concept. At the centre, we have the opportunity to work together with the physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments in order to respond more precisely to the needs of the employee.

Case study: slurred speech and overbite

An employee of the workshop has slurred speech, an incorrect swallowing pattern and an overbite (of the upper jaw).

She is in her early 30s and would like her teeth to be in a better position and her mouth to close. Our approach: Train tongue thrust and mouth closure with myofunctional exercises. During therapy, we worked on both articulation and adequate swallowing. In order to maintain and stabilise the success of the therapy, it is carried out twice a week. After 80 treatments, the swallowing disorder has been corrected and the tongue resting position is normal. That is why her wish to get braces has now been fulfilled. In order to maintain this status quo, further control exercises are required once a week.

Our work

We have our own therapy room in the workshop, where we have adapted therapy materials. (insert a picture, hyperlink to the homepage).

We work on communication, speech, language, swallowing and eating therapy. Through the therapy, employees become more co-operative in everyday life and in the group. They are better able to articulate emotions or thoughts verbally or non-verbally. Communication among each other also becomes more fluent.
